Better Content Creation Through Better Listening
In order to be a great content creator, you have to have empathy. This means you have to be a good listener and be able to understand people’s concerns, assimilate them and act upon them.
In order to improve your listening abilities, it is important to train yourself not to think about your response(s) while the other person is talking. Be fully engaged and aware about what the other person is trying to say and don’t just prepare your own answers in your head.
Try to be consciously open-minded to the fact that the other person might have something to say that may enrich your viewpoint – even if you don’t agree with them.
Create a cultivated culture of mindful follow-up questions. There is nothing more frustrating than talking to someone and trying to explain a point to them, just to realise that person was only waiting to start talking about themselves. In order to prevent that, cultivate a behaviour where you always have a mindful follow-up question that goes more in-depth on a matter that is of concern to the other person. This shows that you’ve been listening, fully engaged and that you are mindful of their passion.
