STORY
01
THE CHALLENGE

Our client is Generation Transition Advisors, an advisory firm that works with families on shared purpose, vision and values, supporting them to hold effective dialogue, make decisions together, and stay connected through transition.

GTA realised that their true strength lay in their partners, in their individual expertise and passion, and they wanted to understand how those individuals contribute to the organisational brand.

The same clarity and trust GTA builds for the families it advises needed to exist among the partners themselves. The starting point was how each of them is currently perceived, and whether that matches how they want to be seen.

02
OUR APPROACH

We worked with GTA’s four partners across a kick-off session, a personal brand workshop, and an individual insight call with each of them.

The kick-off session set the terms. We worked through how others see the partners, how they see themselves, and how they want to be seen, and the gaps between those three gave the workshop something specific to work on. Each partner then took away a short piece of preparation.

The workshop ran on our personal brand formula, which sets a personal brand out in four parts: purpose, promises, audience and evidence. We took each partner through all four, from the values and motivation behind their work to the track record and recognition that support it.

We then looked at the relationship between the individual and the firm: how GTA acts as a platform for each partner to express their purpose and strengths, and how knowing one another’s personal brands supports more intentional collaboration. We closed on implementation, framed as three kinds of action: a quick win, a stretch action, and a consistency habit.

Each partner then had a private insight call, to take their reflections further, work out where more clarity was needed, and consider simple and authentic actions to improve their visibility, without pressure to commit to further work.

The objective was to give each partner a clear account of what they want to be known for, and through that to strengthen the organisational narrative.

03
THE OUTCOME

The workshop was built around exercise and discussion rather than presentation. We guided each partner through the four elements, expanding on their answers, following up the points worth exploring further, and naming the themes that ran through their work. Each partner worked through the elements for themselves and then talked them over with their colleagues, including where the definitions had been hardest to pin down, and how GTA helps each of them express their purpose and reach their audience.

The four partners came out of the process with their purpose, promises, audience and evidence drafted, and a shared vocabulary for discussing them with each other.

We sent each partner an individual follow-up setting out what the workshop had revealed about them, and our recommendations for how they might take it forward, then worked through it with them in their own session.
